Outfits You Can Wear to a Wedding—and Actually Wear Again

Finding the right dress when you’re a bride or bridesmaid is one thing, but what about when you’re a guest?  Attending a wedding can be expensive enough, and wanting to look your best without breaking the bank is a common problem for a lot of women. So if you spend good money for a special occasion, it’s reassuring to know that you can still wear it again.  We put together a list of our favourite go-to wedding garments that are budget friendly and beautiful. The best part? You can still integrate them into your wardrobe for work or daywear.  JumpsuitsA jumpsuit is a prime example of an outfit that’s dressy enough for a wedding, but casual enough that you can even wear it to work the next day. Pair it with a darling pair of heels and a matching clutch and you’re both comfortable and wedding chic.   This bright romper from Jessica Simpson’s collection is the perfect pattern for a summer affair:

Wrap dressWrap dresses are a great way to create or emphasize an X shape. Plus they work in both a casual and dressy environment (think jean jacket vs pashmina as the layering piece) If you’re looking for one that can translate to daywear, try a cocktail version. A dense pattern is going to work best to camouflage any parts we don’t want to accentuate.  Check out this beautiful flutter sleeve wrap dress from Ann Taylor:

Simple patterns, solid coloursThe dilemma when buying a dress for a wedding is usually that you still want to upgrade from your regular day wear, but still have something casual enough that you can wear it again.

If you want to stick out but desire a dress that can still be worn with multiple outfits, try going for a solid colour rather than a complex pattern. It will go with more layering pieces in your wardrobe and it’s less memorable than a distinct pattern, so you can wear it more frequently. Alternatively, use a patterned shoe to still mix it up!

Little Black DressNeed we say more? A black cocktail dress truly is essential for any wardrobe. From work attire to weekend attire, and even a formal wedding affair, a black cocktail dress is a wardrobe necessity. Dress it up with a diamond necklace or earrings with a bright shoe for summer and you’re ready to go!

Cocktail or Midi DressIf you go for a cocktail or midi-length dress, it’s usually much more likely that you will wear it again.  When it comes to purchasing a midi-length, try to stick to a length that hits you in the most complementary place for your height. If you aren’t looking to emphasize your calves then try one that ends just under your calf muscle. Love your gams? Feel free to choose one that hits mid calf. This midi dress option is great for both a formal or day look. Just change the shoes and you change the look!

The best advice of all: dress with confidence. Nothing looks better than when you’re happy and smiling. Enjoy quality time with your friends and family and dance the night away! If you have any questions about what dress shapes suit you best, tag us or dm us on Instagram @your_shop_girl or email us imheretohelp@yourshopgirl.com.
